At Barnack Hills and Holes

We went looking for Chalkhill Blue butterflies (which we found) but the most entertaining part of the day was spent hunting bush crickets and grasshoppers. For those of you who don’t much like insects, this lovely fresh Brimstone butterfly should provide the Awwwww-factor. From the top: a Meadow Grasshopper, amazing in the way his body so accurately mimics the flower he is sitting on. Next is a Speckled Bush Cricket, first time I’ve ever seen one and another wonderful little creature. And, last but not least, the Brimmie.
