Following a Dark Star

Eva (also known as Queen of Dragons) was one of the models at a Steampunk/Goth themed studio shoot. All the models dressed in black, all the sets dark and creepy … nightmare! Massive amount of dodging and burning to recover detail and a texture layer to introduce a touch of colour to alleviate the general gloom.

Only Make Believe

Alice in Wonderland day at the studio and this is the Dormouse with the Mad Hatter lurking in the background. I used the fisheye lens for dramatic effect and added a couple of textures – one to soften the background and one overall to pull it together.

Poised for Flight

Tillie is a trained dancer and also very athletic, great at leaping high in the air and graceful poses. We had to shoot this one very quickly, as she could only stay balanced for a few seconds. The texture is a flower shot I had, used to add a little Moree definition into a high-key image.

We had wrapped up for the day, when Rachelle slipped on this brightly coloured kimono and it was a case of “Don’t Move!” while the camera clicked away. The same texture used twice, once fairly dark for the background and a final light layer to retain tone on the model.

Thru a Glass Darkly

The texture here is a shot of raindrops on my car windscreen, shot against the sky to avoid any intrusive detail. I also added a heavy vignette to enhance the edginess of the shot. Devon is 15 years old and was part of a shoot themed (very loosely) around gangsters.
